CNC Laser Operator

Sets up and operates laser cutting machine to perform simultaneously or in sequence cutting operations in metal work-pieces by performing the following duties and responsibilities:

• Read blueprints or job orders for product specifications and dimensions as well as cutting instructions.
• Loads/Places material in position on machine table.
• Moves controls to set cutting speeds and feed rates.
• Engages power feed and observes machine operation.
• Periodically verifies conformance of cut work to specifications.
• Unloads cut material.
• Ensures quality by visually checking parts for defects or flaws.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

• Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED; or
  one to three months related experience and/or training; or
  equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple
  instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write
  simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to
  other employees of the organization.
• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and
  divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common
  fractions, and decimals. Must have working knowledge of shop
  mathematics in the use of fractions, decimals, and their
  conversions.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply understanding to carry
  out instructions given in the form of written, oral, or diagram.
  Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in
  standardized situations.
• Computer Skills: CNC Experience Preferred.
• Physical Demands: Regularly required to stand and use hands
  to perform various job duties, and to talk and/or hear; frequently
  required to walk and reach with hands and arm; occasionally required
  to sit. Must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds
  occasionally.
• Work Environment: Employee is regularly exposed to moving
  mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate.
